희안한 기둥들 Look at the columns!

이 건물은 화엄사 뒤의 구층암이라고 한다. 내 기억으로는 1978년경에 찍은 사진이다. 그러나 몇년 후 찾아 보았으나 사라지고 말았고 도체체 어디서 찍었는지 알 수 없었다. 물론 화엄사 뒤라고는 알고 있었으나 없어지고 말았기 때문이다. 근래에 배병선 교수와 김봉렬 교수가 나의 기억을 사실로 확인 시켜주었으며 그 이름까지도 알려주었다. 기둥들이 얼마나 독특하게 생겼는가!

The building was located in Kuchungam behind Hwaumsa which is a famous temple in Korea. This picture was taken around 1978 to my memory. But I could not find this building again after that. Since then I have suspected I dreamed somewhere. But recently professor Bong Ryoul Kim at the Korean National University of Arts confirmed the location and the fact that it was transformed unfortunately. How unique the columms were!
